Santenay All Day!

It’s true that Santenay might not be on the tip of everyone’s tongue when thinking of great Burgundy, but that’s exactly why we like it! These off-the-beaten track Burgundies are where the real values can be found, especially in vintages like 2017 where the wines are full of charm and offer loads of immediate pleasure. There was a time when Santenay wines were considered more rustic than refined, but these days with a host of new wave producers like husband and wife team, Vincent & Sophie Morey, Santenay’s reputation is changing for the better. Both Sophie and Vincent come from families of winegrowers in Santenay and Chassagne-Montrachet respectively. They established their Domaine in 2006 and use their winemaking experience to produce the best wines possible in every vintage while preserving the traditional spirit of Burgundy. What you can expect in this bottling is a broad and rich style of Pinot Noir that boasts a nose of wild berries and hints of licorice. On the palate it is decidedly plump with loads of red cherry fruit, plummy undertones and warming spices. It will show well with soft cheeses, lamb chops straight from the grill or sautéed mushrooms. Friendly and easy-to-understand, we could hang out with Santenay all day!
