The second wine of Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is the 2015 Reserve De Comtesse De Lalande and it’s a beautiful wine in 2015 that surpasses most Château’s grand vin. A blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it reveals a deep ruby/purple color as well as medium to full-bodied notes of cassis, plums, ground herbs and spring flowers. This is a ripe, sexy, opulent second wine that’s ideal for drinking over the coming 10-15 years

This is an impressive second wine. It shows a lot of vibrant red berries, blackberries and darker plum fruits. The palate is impressive for the vibrant and lively acidity cast amid sturdy but supple tannins. Second wine from Pichon-Lalande. Try from 2021

The 2015 Réserve de la Comtesse is a superb second wine. Time in barrel and egg white fining have softened some of the tannins the 2015 showed as a barrel sample, but the fruit intensity, pedigree and class of the estate are all in the glass. Black cherry graphite, smoke and licorice are some of the many notes that infuse this potent, almost shockingly virile Comtesse. Quite simply, in 2015 Comtesse is equal to, or greater than, many Grand Vins. Don't miss it. The 2015 spent 12 months in oak, 25% new.

A Noble Second Wine!

Considered one of the best examples of Pauillac, Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is considered one of the best of the 2nd Classified Growths. In fact, in 2019 the Grand Vin was featured prominently at the grand finale vertical tasting at the New York Wine Experience, and in doing so made history as the first time this lofty position didn’t go to a First Growth Chateau. Up until 2007, the Chateau had remained in the same family’s hands for nearly 250 years.  Since then, it has been under ownership of Champagne Louis Roederer who have made important changes to better match grape varieties to soil types, favoring more Cabernet Sauvignon than in the past. This bottling represents the second wine of the Chateau from the blockbuster 2015 vintage. A blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, it is approachable, yet aristocratic with seductive aromas of cassis, plum, blackberries and cocoa. On the palate it is velvety and opulent, with hedonistic layers of black fruits, savory tobacco and graphite. This second wine has all the pedigree and class you would expect from this noble estate – don’t miss out on this one!
