The 2014 Marquis-de-Terme offers strawberry preserve and raspberry coulis on the nose, quite pure and generous, though I would like to see more mineralité and terroir expression. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. The oak needs to fully knit on the entry, though there is sufficient fruit to absorb that with time, and the finish feels caressing in the mouth. If this can foster more terroir expression, more personality, then it will merit a higher score. It's like a film director yelling at the actress... give me more!

Chocolate and vanilla on the nose and bold dry tannins on the palate. They need some time to harmonize, but there’s a lot of depth, and this has great ageing potential! Needs until 2021 to open.

91 pts Vinous

The 2014 Marquis de Terme has a comparatively richer bouquet than its Margaux peers, then with aeration eases back on the throttle to leave you with attractive raspberry coulis, crushed strawberry and dried violet petal scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin. This feels precise and focused, quite graphite-drive towards the finish with a Pauillac-inspired finish. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.

Wine Spectator

Focused, with dusty tannins carrying the core of dark cherry, damson plum and black currant coulis flavors. Light black tea and warm stone accents show on the finish. Best from 2018 through 2024. 9,167 cases made.
