The 2013 is defined by its remarkable freshness and structure. The wines exude notes of crunchy red fruits and offer an exceptional reflection of their terroir.

Ruby red in colour with clear purple reflections. The nose is powerful, concentrated and exudes notes of black cherry and spice. The palate is rich and smooth with good energy and concentration. The finish is elegant. An excellent wine for cellar ageing.

- Notes from the Producer

93-95 pts Burghound

*Don't Miss!* A generous dollop of moderately toasty oak mixes with the highly layered nose of black cherry, cassis, warm earth and an impressive array of sauvage and underbrush notes. There is excellent richness to the overtly powerful and muscular flavors that possess an imposing sense of scale that continues onto the textured and mouth coating finish. Like several of the wines in the range in 2013 this is a big but not really massive wine that retains a sense of proportion even though the underlying structure is quite firm. This will need plenty of patience however.

92-95 pts Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Dark red. Musky aromas of wild game and white pepper. Markedly less fruity than the top Côte de Nuits grand crus that preceded it, but boasts outstanding sappy energy and soil-driven salinity. Extremely closed today, with its tight tannic spine showing a slightly raw quality that will require long-term bottle aging. Offers outstanding potential but this is tough going today. "This wine is not compatible with whole-cluster fermentation, as it's already powerful enough," notes Hervet.

93 pts Wine Spectator

A pretty red, this features wild strawberry and cherry fruit along with accents of spice and licorice, showing terrific harmony and length. Seductive now, but the gentle tannins suggest this could benefit from at least another few years of age. Best from 2018 through 2030. 2,133 cases made.
