Chambolle on a Budget

If your heart starts to flutter at the mention of Chambolle Musigny, but the reality check of how that might set back your bank account stops you short, then you will love this offering by Digioia Royer. The grapes for this village level Burgundy are sourced from seven different parcels located in such esteemed appellations like Morey St. Denis, Gilly-les-Citeaux, and Chambolle-Musigny. These appellations are known for producing some of the most ethereal wines in Burgundy. In a vintage like 2017, where the yields were low but the fruit quality was high, the savvy Burgundy shopper will recognize what a remarkable offer this is. Lovely aromas of red cherry and raspberry coupled with slight earthy tones waft from the glass. On the palate it captures Chambolle’s hallmark graceful and light texture, with red fruit flavors continuing on, followed by hints of cola and plowed earth. There are no harsh angles on this wine and it will offer loads of pleasure for any Pinot Noir lover. For the record, Digioia Royer’s vineyards are less than five hectares, which means there’s not a lot of wine to be had – this is not an offer to miss!
