Hand Crafted in the Spirit of Burgundy

Alluring, complex, supple….these are just a few words to describe the outstanding Pinot Noir from Oregon’s Yamhill-Carlton AVA in the Willamette Valley. With a similar latitude and climate as Burgundy, ancient marine sedimentary-based soils and Continental weather it’s no wonder that so many Burgundian producers invested heavily in Oregon in recent years. Of the many houses that have flocked to the valley’s neatly combed bench land, Gran Moraine stands out as one of the most outstanding wineries in Oregon. Part of the Jackson Family Wines stable, no expense was spared to produce Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the tradition and spirit of Burgundy. Showing remarkable range, it has a nose of black cherry, floral perfume, red licorice and cocoa. On the palate it is rich and velvety, with sweet dark fruits, a touch of leather, and a long, minerally finish. It will be the perfect pour for an astonishing array of dishes. Try it with glazed duck breast, garlic and herb roasted pork tenderloin, grilled salmon and anything with mushrooms. Checking in at this price, it can practically be your new house red!

Fun Fact

Gran Moraine takes its name from the glacier movements in the last ice age. The Missoula Floods deposited glacial sediment (moraines) in the northern Willamette Valley, leaving behind mini valleys similar to Burgundy’s Cote d’Or.
