Siduri, named for the Babylonian goddess of wine, specializes in cool-climate Pinot Noir from growing regions across California and Oregon. Winemaker Adam Lee’s constant pursuit of Pinot perfection has led to long-standing relationships with top growers in premier appellations from Oregon’s Willamette Valley to California’s Santa Barbara County.
Aromatics: Cranberry, persimmon, bay leaf, black pepper.
Palate: Black cherry, boysenberry, cinnamon and hints of clove. Pleasantly firm tannins hold the long finish, which is highlighted by juicy acidity and spice.
The folks at Siduri specialize in just one varietal – Pinot Noir – with a focus on sites renowned for their cool climates. With cuvées spanning from California's Santa Barbara County to Oregon's Willamette Valley, you could say they are officially Pinot obsessed! After years spent working at small, family-owned wineries and using any and all free time learning everything they could about growing grapes and making wine, Adam Lee and Dianna Novy struck out on their own with their first release in 1994. For this bottling, three distinctive appellations within the Willamette Valley bring different attributes to the blend. Grapes from the cooler Chehalem Mountains AVA lend fresh acidity and bright aromatics. When blended with the richer and rounder wines from the Yamhill-Carlton and Eola-Amity areas, the result is a broad range of flavors that mingle together to create a wine that is simultaneously rich and zippy – what we’re calling Pinot perfection! It has fresh aromatics of ripe raspberry, cranberry, bay leaf and tilled soil. On the palate, bold fruit flavors of raspberry lead to black cherry, boysenberry, cinnamon and hints of clove. The perfect red for the dog days of summer, it will pair well with tuna, salmon, mushrooms and anything from the grill!
