The Sweet Spot for Your Budget!
Rarely does Chardonnay get to shine as purely as it does in Chablis. Here in France’s cool, northern climate the Chardonnay grape grows in Kimmeridgian soil, an ancient limestone loam flecked with clay and fossilized oyster shells. The result is a wine with a serious mineral backbone, tangy acidity and unadulterated fruit. You can expect flavors of crisp green apple, pineapple skin, white flowers and citrus. Roland Lavantureaux established his Domaine in 1978 and made a name for himself by crafting the purest expression of Chardonnay and meticulous attention to detail. Today, his two sons, Arnaud and David, have joined the family operation and are making great strides by increasing the family’s vineyard holdings and adding single vineyard wines. If ever there were a wine to pair with oysters, this one is it. Trust us, you’ll want to save room in your shopping cart for this one!
This style does not show well over-chilled. Serve it a degree warmer than you would a light, white wine.
