Marie-Antoine-Arena-VDF-Blanc-Haut-de-Carco-Corsica-2015

Marie-Antoine Arena, VDF Blanc ''Haut de Carco'' (Corsica), 2015

The Haut de Carco is the most recently planted parcel, sitting directly above the Carco, and containing even harder, thicker limestone than the Carco. In fact, nothing grew there before. The Arenas cleared rocks and blasted holes for over a year in the rock to plant Vermentinu.
Clusters of vermentinu marked by their mineral soil plus a “typical Arena” winemaking method highlight the discreet elegance of this very balanced wine, as opposed to the exaggeratedly extroverted side of other Corsican whites, which are much more “common”.

Montviel-Pomerol-2012

Montviel, (Pomerol), 2012

“From a stable of vineyards owned by the late and dynamic Madame Péré-Vergé, the 2012 Montviel has an opaque purple color. One of the best ever from this estate, this wine has an extra level of concentration and richness. It is dense, medium to full-bodied, ripe, rich, not terribly complex as of yet, but exhibiting plenty of promise and potential. Forget it for 3-4 years and drink it over the following 15 or more.”

Domaine-Dubois-Nuits-St-Georges-2015

Domaine Dubois, Nuits St. Georges, 2015

“Beautiful, deep, dark colour. The aroma is powerful and complex : cherries, blackcurrant, animal, and some spices. The Nuits Saint Georges are tannin wines, with a tannin-rounded harmony.that gives bodied and solid wines.”

Pessac-Leognan-de-Chateau-Haut-Bailly-Pessac-Leognan-2017

Pessac Leognan de Chateau Haut-Bailly, (Pessac-Leognan), 2017

In 2017 Château Haut-Bailly has, yet again, produced another outstanding wine. This “Pessac-Léognan” is referred to as the 3rd red wine of Château Haut-Bailly, which is known for their Cabernet Sauvignon dominant blend with Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The Pessac Leognan is in Graves, Bordeaux, and the area is known for earthy Bordeaux reds that are very elegant in style; which is exemplified in this 2017 Pessac Leognan de Chateau Haut-Bailly. It is already approachable, showing rich flavors of dark berries and fine texture typical of Haut-Bailly. General Manager/Winemaker Veronique Sanders has done an extraordinary job at this Estate, which has now become one of the superstars of Bordeaux.

Charly-Thevenet-Regnie-Grain-Granit-2016

Charly Thevenet, Regnie ''Grain & Granit'', 2016

“Charly Thévenet’s 2016 Régnié is lovely, wafting from the glass with a decadent bouquet of sweet red and black plums, cherries and dried flowers, mingling with incipient notes of sweet soil. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, lavishly textural and velvety, with an ample core of succulent fruit and a richly savory finish. This is a deliciously gourmand Régnié that I’d be inclined to attack in its comparative youth.”

Sesti-Rosso-di-Montepulciano-2015

Sesti, Rosso di Montalcino, 2015

“Graphite, raspberry and licorice aromas and flavors are the hallmarks of this expressive red. Solidly structured, with fine harmony and a lingering aftertaste. Drink now through 2022.”
- Wine Spectator (90 points)

“It greets the palate like velvet, then unleashes a wild side: black cherry, spices, a bloody note, and finally a gutsy finish that leaves something to ponder long after it’s gone. This Rosso does not mess around.”
- Anthony Lynch

Chateau-Des-Jacques-Moulin-a-Vent-Louis-Jadot-2016

Chateau Des Jacques, Moulin a Vent (Louis Jadot), 2016

Atop the hierarchy of Beaujolais Crus are Moulin-à-Vent and Morgon, with notable aging potential. Often called the most “Burgundian” cru, Moulin-à-Vent shows complexity, finesse and length. Château des Jacques Moulin-à-Vent can age at least 10-20 years. Following harvest, a portion of the grapes are destemmed before the wine is vinified in closed vats with pumping over. Finally, the wine matures in oak barrels.

TASTING NOTES
This full, robust Beaujolais offers a fleshy texture and greater longevity than any other Beaujolais cru. Its exceptional structure supports vivid red fruit aromas.

FOOD PAIRING
Moulin-à-Vent is perfect with lighter red meat dishes.
