Mathieu Lapierre follows in his famous father’s footsteps to create one of the greatest cru Beaujolais in all of France. It’s more than delicious; it’s liquid joy.

The Legend of Beaujolais

Founded at the beginning of the 20th century, Domaine Lapierre is a family run affair that has been handed down from father to son for generations.  In 1973, Marcel Lapierre made major changes to the winemaking and became the leading authority in natural wines. A hero to many winemakers, he was the first to embrace biodynamic agriculture, wild yeasts, and minimal use of sulphur. Since Marcel’s untimely death in 2010, Marcel’s children have taken up the reigns and included their names on the label to reflect the involvement of the next generation. Morgon is one of the 10 crus of Beaujolais and Lapeirre’s expression is widely regarded as one of the finest. Vinified in steel with traditional semi-carbonic maceration, it is aged in used barrels to give to the nose a rich and delicate aroma of violet, licorice and cherry pulp. On the palate, it is luscious and round with juicy red fruits, deep freshness and soft tannins. If you are a fan of Beaujolais this wine is not to be missed – and if you know Lapierre’s wines already, do not pass on this offer – we only get a small allocation every year, and when it’s gone, it’s gone!
