Plants benefit from lands, the Tuscan sun and perfect microclimate and most importantly, a passion for great wines.

Ceretto-Barolo-Cannubi-San-Lorenzo-Magnum-2005

Ceretto, Barolo Cannubi San Lorenzo Magnum, 2005

“The 2005 Barolo Cannubi (magnum) is a touch compact and austere, in keeping with the style of the vintage. The wine is a bit tight at first, but then opens up nicely in the glass. This is a mid-weight Cannubi from Ceretto, but the wine’s freshness, finesse and length all suggest it will develop well in bottle.”

Quintarelli-Alzero-Magnum-2007

Quintarelli, Alzero Magnum, 2007

“A blend of 40% Cabernet Franc, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, the 2007 Alzero is an Amarone-inspired red blend. The two Cabernet varieties undergo a three-month appassimento process and the Merlot is added at the last minute before bottling. This last grape adds a very evident layer of cherry sweetness and softness that goes a long way in defining this wine. Alzero has been in production since 1983 and no vintage has ever been skipped. This is a dark and brooding expression with a playful mix of sweet fruit intensity and dark tannic background shading.”

Dal-Forno-Amarone-2011

Dal Forno, Amarone, 2011

“The 2011 Amarone della Valpolicella Monte Lodoletta is another extreme wine from Romano Dal Forno and his family. It is almost impossible to wrap your head around the intensity and richness that is so expertly delivered by this monumental wine. The bouquet is sweet and heavy with luscious tones of black fruit, prune, dried rose bud, cherry liqueur, spice and tarry asphalt. The wine oozes forth with impactful thickness and generosity. Rather than a companion to a meal, this wine is a meal in itself. It goes over and beyond traditional Amarone. This was a hot vintage, but the brunt of the heat came towards the middle/end of the growing season, followed by cooler temperatures at harvest.”

Masi-Campofiorin-2013

Masi, 'Campofiorin'' (Veneto), 2015

CAMPOFIORIN
ROSSO DEL VERONESE IGT

Full bodied, smooth and velvety, but approachable and versatile in its food pairings. Combines simplicity with style, strength and majesty.

This is the original Supervenetian created by Masi in 1964 and internationally recognised as a wine of “stupendous body and complexity”, the prototype for a new category of wines from the Veneto inspired by the Amarone production method (Burton Anderson). Its own production method was described by Hugh Johnson as “an ingenious technique”.

Botromagno-Nero-Di-Troia-IGP-Puglia-2014

Botromagno, Nero Di Troia IGP (Puglia), 2014

“Botromagno is one of Puglia’s historic go-to producers that offers enticing value buys from southern Italy. The 2014 Nero di Troia is an authentic and slightly rustic expression that ultimately provides a lively and pleasurable drinking experience. The wine’s structure is not too dense or thick which means you have many food pairing options to play with. The bouquet offers wild berry aromas with forest floor, button mushroom and black olive. This wine is made without oak.”

Quintarelli-Recioto-della-Valpolicella-2004

Quintarelli, Recioto della Valpolicella, 2004

“Time has only been a friend to the 2004 Recioto della Valpolicella Classico. Soaring and vivid in its beauty, the 2004 is simply stunning today. Bittersweet chocolate, cloves, menthol, leather and sweet dark cherry are front and center, but it is the wine’s poise and overall nuance that truly elevate it into the stratosphere of wine elixirs. Don’t make the same mistake I have made in the past. Avoid the half bottles. The 2004 is a wine to buy in the 750s. This is as good as Recioto gets.”

Bartenura-Ovadia-Montepulciano-dAbruzzo-2015

Bartenura, ''Ovadia'' Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, 2015

“Deep ruby color, with purple shadows. The bouquet shows rose, delicate red fruits similar to currant and raspberry, pepper, clove and accents of brush. Medium-bodied, in the mouth is velvety, with hints of cherry, blueberry and licorice, with fresh and energetic tannins that permeates the entire sips.”

Terra-di-Seta-Chianti-Classico-Kosher-2014

Terra di Seta, Chianti Classico Kosher, 2016

In Italian Terra means both soil, land and earth, and Seta means silk, while it is also part of the family name. This brand represents therefore the core of the Della Seta-Pellegrini family’s philosophy ad goal, which is to obtain traditional, excellent, and refined products from their unique land property.

Since 2001, Terra di Seta winery is part of a family-run organic farm overseen by Daniele Della Seta and his wife Maria Pellegrini. The farm sits on a hill near Siena, about 1,574 feet above sea level, with a 360 view on the Tuscan countryside of the famous Chianti Classico area.

While the Della Setas come from an ancient Jewish family settled in Rome since 2000 years, the Pellegrinis are an old Tuscan family with strong tradition and experience in wine production.

In 2008, the Pellegrini-Della Seta family decided to dedicate the entire grape production (around 37 acres of vineyards) to kosher wine (OK certification) becoming the only completely kosher winery in Tuscany.

Dal-Forno-Valpolicella-2011

Dal Forno, Valpolicella, 2011

“The 2011 Valpolicella Superiore Monte Lodoletta is a darkly concentrated but carefully balanced expression that only the most expert vintner can pull off with success. Consider that the dry extract is a massive 48 grams per liter. In fact, there is some minor precipitation of color matter even at this relatively young age. This wine was aged in new oak for two years (instead of the standard three years) with four years bottle (instead of three). That extra year in glass served to help the wine integrate and to reduce micro-oxygenation. The bouquet is bright and fragrant with floral notes of rose and violet that are rare to find in Valpolicella. There are faint tertiary notes as well that add to the complexity. You will find cured leather and savory spice. The finish offers enough acidity to refresh the palate, following that considerable density and thickness.” —The Wine Advocate

Moccagatta, Barbaresco, 2016

“A broad, spicy style, displaying plum, earth and tar flavors, shaded by toast and vanilla notes. The firm structure shores up the finish as this winds down, echoing plum, tar and spice details. Best from 2021 through 2033. 375 cases made.”
