The Bandol Tempier Rosé offers a unique blend of complexity and freshness. It has a fine structure, with no tannin. The high-quality care given to the vines and the diversity of the terroirs produce a flavorful intensity and a strong typicity. Expect flavors of strawberry, white peach and a touch of pink grapefruit acidity. Truly one of the great Roses, we consider it a benchmark in the Rose category.

The Sommelier's Rose!

If ever there were a holy grail of Roses for the discerning Sommelier, it would be this one from Domaine Tempier. Adored for its complexity and compatibility with Provencal cuisine, it is one of the few Roses seriously worth ageing, in some cases for decades. Although it was established in 1834, the story of Domaine Tempier, and of Bandol itself, really gets going in the 1930’s under the guidance of Lucie Tempier and husband, Lucien Peyraud. This energetic couple began a crusade to have Bandol wines recognized alongside the great wines of Bordeaux, Burgundy and Cote-Rotie by distinguishing the region’s most important grape variety, Mourvedre.  Massively far ahead of current trends, they bottled their first Rose in 1943. They became well-known for their epic hospitality and even managed to have 7 children along the way, two of which headed the Domaine for many years and are still involved in the business today.  So successful were they that today, Lucien Peyraud is known as the grandfather of Bandol wines and Domaine Tempier is considered Bandol’s most legendary producer. The wine shows both floral and fruit flavors such as dewy rose petals, wild strawberry, white peach and hints of garrigue. It is complex, fresh and layered with intense fruit and lifted acidity. It is so popular among our customers that we do sell out every year – it’s the perfect Rose to reach for all summer, but with its proven ability to age, it’s worthy of tucking away in the cellar if you can resist the urge to drink it all!
