Brilliant Bandol
Arguably the best appellation in Provence, Bandol, is located about 30 miles from Marseille in a setting framed by the Mediterranean, dotted with olive groves and scenic views. The wines from Bandol are defined by the use of the dark, tannin-rich Mourvèdre grape, and it’s one of the reasons Bandol Rosés are at the top of the Rosé hierarchy. They are also one of the few Rosés which can age…and while they are brilliant in their youth, we do appreciate the complexity a few years of bottle age lends to these wines. Organically farmed, the family owned Domaine de Terrebrune named the estate after the brown soils they farm there. The mighty Mourvedre grape offers plenty of spice and earthy notes, along with a bolt of minerality, while the addition of Grenache and Cinsault lend fresh flavors of red grapefruit, rhubarb, honeydew melon and citrus zest. We like our Rosé crisp and dry with complex flavors – what can we say? We’re all about Bandol!
