Supple tannic structure, this Left Bank wine dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted by the Richard family--owners of Chateau La Nerthe in Chateauneuf, who took over in 1990. The palate is graced with flavors of cedar, red fruits, tobacco and mild spices. A lovely option for all Bordeaux lovers. The 2016 vintage is considered to be an excellent vintage in Bordeaux. The wines are generously-fruited and structured with good levels of tannins. They also have freshness and energy and are extremely pleasant. Highly Recommended.

Our Best Budget Bordeaux!

Chateau Picourneau falls into the hallowed category of delicious wines that don’t require you to break the bank to enjoy them. Hailing from the Haut Medoc, this gem is based on Cabernet Sauvignon and blended with smaller amounts of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. You’ll find plenty of classic Left Bank Bordeaux aromas and flavors here – think cassis, black cherry, chocolate and savory notes of cigar box, graphite and gravel. From the petit chateaux to the Grand Cru, the 2016 vintage in Bordeaux is considered an excellent vintage. Of the Classified Growths, Robert Parker ranked a total of 9 wines with perfect 100 point scores. While the famous chateaux get the lion’s share of attention, shrewd shoppers know there is more to Bordeaux than elite producers. In vintages like 2016, quality is not compromised by affordability. Stock up on this wine now and you’ll thank yourself come the first crisp days of fall.
