A fresh, bright and ripe nose combines a variety of plum and dark berry aromas but in particular cherry, with those of earth and lavender. There is a lovely sense of energy to the well-detailed, punchy and delicious flavors that display really lovely persistence on the solidly complex and well-balanced finish. This moderately firm and slightly old school effort is lovely for its level and recommended.-Burghound

The Labet family has lived in Beaune for 300 years and has been making wine under their label since the 1980s. François Labet grew up in the family home, Bastion Notre Dame, in the center of Beaune. The bastion was built in 1637, during the Thirty Years' War, and has been the family home since 1800. Emile Labet, François's grandfather, was the mayor of Beaune from 1929 to 1932. The domaine was named for Emile's son Pierre, and François honors his father by maintaining the name. All of the vines are estate owned, and François's focus is in the vineyard. "You can't make great cuisine without great ingredients," he explains. The wines are made at the family's estate, Château de la Tour in Clos de Vougeot, using identical viticulture and vinification as Château de la Tour. Labet's common sense approach to winegrowing has brought good fortune through wines of extraordinary merit.
