Domaine Leflaive extends over 24 hectares (59.3 acres) in Puligny-Montrachet, of which 4.8 hectares (11.9 acres) are grands crus and 10.8 hectares (26.7 acres) are premiers crus, all growing one varietal: Chardonnay. Domaine Leflaive is one of the pioneers of biodynamic viticulture in Burgundy. Aromas of green apples, citrus, honeysuckle and white peach, the 2018 Bourgogne Blanc, is a medium to full-bodied wine and elegantly glossy attack, a succulent core of fruit, and excellent cut and intensity for its level, concluding with a long finish. This is routinely one of the best generic bottlings to be found, and this year's rendition is no exception. – Sherry Lehmann Staff Reviews

A Regional Tour de Force!

If you’ve been seduced by Burgundy - and let’s face it what wine lover hasn’t fallen to its charms -  then the Leflaive family needs no introduction. Residents in Puligny-Montrachet since 1717, Domaine Leflaive counts among its holdings some of Puligny Montrachet’s finest terroirs, including Batard-Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet and the ultimate crown jewel, Le Montrachet. If Grand Cru Burgundy isn’t in the budget, savvy Burgundy lovers know that looking for a regional wine, such as this Bourgogne 2018, will offer access to the Domaine Leflaive style at a fraction of the cost. Having converted all their vineyards to biodynamic agriculture in 1996, the grapes for this bottling were sourced from plots throughout Puligny Montrachet that are owned by the Leflaive family members, or longtime friends of the family. The wine was then vinified in the Leflaive historical family cellar in the center of the town of Puligny-Montrachet. In it, you’ll find Puligny’s characteristic liquid gold color and delicate top notes of white peach and lemongrass followed by echoes of marzipan, honey and flint. With a well-defined personality and mouth-coating concentration, it is a tour de force of harmony. Flavors of orchard fruits combine with buttered croissants, then open up to an undercut of minerality and lifted acidity. From the regional to the Grand Cru, the wines of Domaine Leflaive are exquisite and beautifully crafted. For the collector, or for a special occasion, to find a bottling under $100 is worth its weight in liquid gold.
