Only a handful of vignerons today are fortunate enough to produce A.O.C. Cassis, and the small quantities available are largely consumed locally with fresh fish—the best way to enjoy them. The Sack-Zafiropulos family has been making wine here for four generations and has continued to craft wines of grace and finesse. This new rosé wine, from selected terroirs throughout the Cotes de Provence is an aromatic, mineral, unpinned wine. CGA Gold Medal 2020.

New from Timeless Provence!

Clos Ste. Magdeleine is known not only for making stunning white wine in Provence’s obscure Cassis AOC, but also for having one of the most beautiful wine estates in France. Vineyards here are located on their own peninsula and jut out to meet majestic limestone cliffs, poised spectacularly above the sparkling, azure Mediterranean – even from photos you can sense how sea spray and sunshine mix to create remarkable wines. While white wine is the primary focus in Cassis, the team at Clos St. Magdeleine makes a small amount of Rosé each year. The downside is that it is hard to come by and is often consumed locally. Lucky for us, there is a new Rosé in the Magdeleine lineup that has made it stateside so we, too, can enjoy a bit of the Mediterranean’s charms. Grapes are sourced from the picturesque harbor town of La Ciotat, from a vineyard near the coast roughly halfway between Cassis and Bandol. Comprised of 35% Grenache, 35% Cinsault, 20% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, this is a refreshing Rosé that shimmers with citrusy notes of tangerine and blood orange, red berry fruit and a distinctive brininess from the sea. Grab a bottle of this Rosé, embark on a game of pétanque and you, too, might just feel the magic of timeless Provence!
