Dalla-Valle-Cabernet-Sauvignon-2016

Dalla Valle, Cabernet Sauvignon , 2016

“Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate saunters out of the glass with a seriously sexy nose of crushed blackberries, wild blueberries, kirsch and black cherries with touches of fragrant soil, cassis, tobacco leaf, candied violets and espresso. Medium to full-bodied, the palate positively quivers with an electric intensity of tightly wound black and red berry layers, framed by very firm, fine-grained tannins and delivering bags of freshness and perfume on the very long finish.”

“The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) shows the polished side of the vintage off to great effect. Bright and nuanced on the palate, with terrific energy, the 2016 is super-expressive, even in the early going. Bright red cherry, raspberry jam, mocha, spice and sweet tobacco build in the glass, but it is the wine’s overall poise and balance that stand out most. The 2016 is a wine of finesse more than power. I would prefer to give it a few years in bottle to come together, but it is stunning, even in the early going.”

“The two 2016 releases from Dalla Valle start with the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, a sensational wine that easily stands next to the smaller production Maya cuvée. This rocking base level Cabernet has awesome notes of blackcurrants, graphite, crushed rocks, chocolate, and damp earth/forest floor aromas and flavors. It’s rich, powerful and concentrated, yet also elegant, with silky tannins and a finish where its class shows clearly. It’s a beautiful bottle of wine that will have two decades or more of longevity.”

“A broad, ripe and showy style, with boysenberry, dark plum and black Mission fig fruit flavors that glide through, carried by creamy, polished structure. Light mocha, anise and fresh humus hints peek through on the finish, adding range. A big red, with a lovely feel. Best from 2020 through 2032. 900 cases made.”

Dalla-Valle-Cabernet-Sauvignon-Maya-2016

Dalla Valle, Cabernet Sauvignon ''Maya'' , 2016

“The 2016 Maya offers another level of depth and density and is a truly special, magical wine. A blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Cabernet Franc, it boasts off the chart notes of blackcurrants, Asian spices, lead pencil, chocolate, and incense. These all give way to a massively concentrated, rich, and powerful wine that nevertheless stays oh, so seamless, silky and pure, with a finish that goes on for minutes. Utterly profound in every way, this sensational wine hits every high point you could ever set for a glass of wine. it’s one of the top 2-3 wines in this report. Hide bottles for 7-8 years and it will keep for 3-4 decades.”

“Dalla Valle’s 2016 Maya, the estate’s flagship Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc blend, is endowed with stunning purity and exceptional balance. The purity of the flavors is simply remarkable. A rush of red cherry jam, menthol, pomegranate, mint and espresso builds as the wine opens up in the glass. Blood orange and expressive floral notes appear later, adding brightness as the 2016 reveals the many shades of its beguiling personality. Silky and seamless on the palate, with exceptional balance, the 2016 has so much to offer. The 2016 is one of the most polished and complete young Mayas I can remember tasting. In a word: exceptional.”

“A ripe and lavish Napa red with currant and dried berry with hints of milk chocolate. Turns to fresh flowers and dry earth. Full body, flavorful with lots of integrity and focus. Flavorful finish. The polish to the tannins and glorious. A blend of 67% cabernet sauvignon and 33% cabernet franc. Drink or hold.”

“Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Maya Proprietary Red Wine opens with sweet plums, spice box and kirsch notes with nuances of vanillin, cocoa powder, dried herbs and loam. Medium to full-bodied, soft, approachable and very sexy even at this youthful stage, it has a long, perfumed finish. This was tasted as a barrel sample.”
