Arnaldo-Caprai-Sagrantino-Montefalco-25-Anni-2007

Arnaldo Caprai, Sagrantino Montefalco "25 Anni", 2007

70% Sangiovese and 30% Sagrantino

“The 2007 Sagrantino di Montefalco 25 Anni is an extreme wine in this vintage. In fact, I am not sure it is meaningfully better or more complex than the Collepiano. The wine needs several hours to be the slightest bit approachable. Firm, huge tannins assault the palate in this massively concentrated Sagrantino. Layers of tar, licorice and leather add a measure of detail to this hulking 25 Anni. The 2007 will require considerable bottle age to soften.” —The Wine Advocate

“The 2007 Montefalco Rosso is simply beautiful in this vintage. Silky, ripe tannins frame an expressive core of red berries, flowers and tobacco. The wine reveals gorgeous length and a refined, understated finish. Readers who enjoy more tertiary nuance may want to cellar this for a few years. In my experience Caprai’s Montefalco Rosso peaks between ages eight to ten. Still, it is impossible not to admire the wine today. This is a terrific effort from Marco Caprai.”
