Jax Vineyards, Cabernet Sauvignon, 2005
JAX Vineyards produce this distinctive Cabernet Sauvignon by dry-farming the estate’s thirty-seven year old vines at the foot of Mt. St. Helena, in Napa Valley.
Deep ruby red hues complimenting the ripe red cherry nose. This wine reveals solid tannins backed by layers of dark cherry and cassis fruit. These fruit layers follow through with cinnamon and clove accents. The 2005 is ready now but will keep nicely through 2012.

Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe, "Telegramme" Chateauneuf du Pape, 2007
Vivid red. Assertive aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry, fresh lavender and minerals; there’s a pinot-like vibrancy here that I like. Brisk and sharply defined, offering tangy red berry flavors, silky texture and good mineral snap. The finish is gently sweet and impressively pure.

Vivid red. Expressive aromas of black raspberry, Asian spices and fresh rose, with a nervy mineral underpinning. Lively and sharply focused, offering sweet red and dark berry flavors and an exotic floral pastille quality. The finish strongly echoes the red fruit and spice notes and is strikingly persistent. Pommery, Cuvee Louise, 1998
A melange of toast, coconut, vanilla and ginger highlight this rich, medium-bodied bubbly. It’s compact and firm, with a rhubarb and biscuit aftertaste.
Wine Spectator
The estate’s 1998 Brut Cuvee Louise is a linear, focused wine endowed with layers of smoke, flowers, minerals and white fruit that come together with impressive length and clarity. This deceptively mid-weight wine closes with a long, elegant finish.

Thierry Germain, "Bulles de Roche" Saumur Brut NV
A delicious new discovery from our good friend Thierry Germain—who is quickly becoming a star in the Loire. He now makes some of the most outstanding wines in the Saumur.
This lovely sparkling wine is made from Chenin (90%) with a little Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc. Aged in oak barrels and once assembled, bottled for the second fermentation in the traditional Champagne method.
Good purity with a touch of minerality and fine bubbles. The nose has some pear and citrus. The palate is fresh and precise.

Ridge Vineyards, Lytton Springs Zinfandel, 2006
Lytton Springs bottlings are generally perceived as quintessential zinfandel. The eastern vines grow on 7 hills; petite sirah surrounds the zin on 6, grenache on the other, an unusual configuration with some interplanting. The western part is a magnificent hodgepodge of grapes, including more zinfandel. The wines are classic Dry Creek Valley. They show the potent, ripe boysenberry and blackberry of old-vines; notes of leaf and briar. Good fruit in its youth, these balanced, powerful zins become more nuanced with age.
