The blockbuster 2009 vintage for Bordeaux has made these wines a must have for any Bordeaux lover. This is the second selection from the great Chateau Brane Cantenac in Margaux with 58% Merlot and 42% Cabernet Sauvignon. A generous wine, as most of the 2009s are currently showing, with dark cassis and black cherry notes with rich velvety tannins and hints of tobacco leaf.

The Chateau de Citeaux in Meursault is home to some of the most prestigious appellations of the Cote de Beaune. They also offers more affordable options such as this Bourgogne Chardonnay.

The Domaine Chandon Napa Valley, California sparkling wine is made from the Moet & Chandon French Champagne House with the same expertise and skill that they use to craft their Moet & Chandon Champagnes. Wines made from Pinot Blanc pair very well with many types of cuisine, and really deserve more recognition than they generally get.

These grapes, originally used in France’s Rhône as part of the blend for the Pigeoulet wines, caught the attention of the winemakers during their first harvest and the message was loud and clear. This 100% Nebbiolo is made from young-vine fruit grown in vineyards from the Valtellina. The vineyards face South and are 250 – 550 meters above sea level. The steep slopes of sandy-silty, shallow top-soil provide ideal drainage for the vines.
This little gem is priced as an “everyday” red but it way above the classification. Full, lively tart fruit flavors, elegant tannins and a lingering aftertaste.

Good Riojas over $15.—easy. $12—much harder. This one is closer in quality, depth and style to those at twice the price. Must be tried.

A cherry red color, suggestive of a vibrant Tempranillo-based wine.
On the nose, its rich aromas have a pronounced intensity with an initial scent of ripe red fruit followed by gentle sweet notes of vanilla and spices. On the palate it is perfumed, soft and fresh with a long finish that leaves memories of red fruit, vanilla and cocoa.

The Raimbault family has been growing grapes in the heart of Sancerre in the Loire Valley in France for ten generations. Their white Sancerre wines, which are made from Sauvignon Blanc, are simply graceful wines that expresses the depth and smoothness of the clay-limestone terroir. This 2011 Sancerre has mouthwatering peach flavors with a hint of minerality that continues along the long length.
