“A Venerable Wine Shop Trades Madison for Park”
By Florence Fabricant, New York Times

Sherry-Lehmann, a bastion of Bordeaux on Madison Avenue and 61st Street for 59 years, has moved nearby, to Park Avenue. The new location offers a sweeping gold-trimmed show window; inside, there is more space for display. Michael Aaron, the store's chairman, is especially proud of the racks holding 20 imperials, each equivalent to eight bottles (impress your friends with the 2004 Château Beychevelle for $495), and 26 double magnums of Bordeaux.
The dark wood, Old World décor of the former store has been maintained but in a lighter fashion. Ceiling beams are hung with wine memorabilia, antiques and vinous bric-a-brac. A touch-screen computer allows customers to troll the inventory; only some of the more than 7,000 bottles the store carries are on display, with the rest kept in climate-controlled conditions on the lower level. A second floor area will become the venue for wine tastings and classes next year.
The store has also introduced its own line of glassware, in four styles, with sets of six for $49.95: 505 Park Avenue (59th Street), (212) 838-7500.
