An Award-Winning Discovery from New Zealand

Saint Clair “Pioneer Block 3”, Sauvignon Blanc 2007

The award-winning winery, Saint Clair Estate Wines, is helping to keep New Zealand at the forefront of worldwide trends, by focusing on its exclusive small parcel wine label: Pioneer Block.

Since the Marlborough-based vineyard released its first Pioneer Block wines in late 2005, the range has won five trophies and 20 gold medals at local and international wine shows. Saint Clair Pioneer Block wines are made from small parcels of outstanding fruit where the terroir—vineyard soils, climate and vineyard location—sets these wines apart by providing unique flavors and textures to the wines.

About the Wine

Drinking beautifully now. This wine has a fresh vibrant palate of passion fruit, gooseberry, and crushed herb with a rich, full palate, striking minerality, and a lingering finish. It is the crushed herb flavors that is a point of difference for this wine. A Sherry-Lehmann Exclusive!

(Bin 4122)  $24.95 bottle, $299.40 case.

About the Vineyard

Saint Clair’s Pioneer Block 3 is harvested from the 43 Degree vineyard, which is planted with vineyard rows running at an unusual angle of 43 degrees northeast to southwest. This results in more shade to the southerly aspect of each row, creating a slower, longer ripening period, and thereby producing a Sauvignon Blanc of maximum flavor, maturity and physiological ripeness.
