Rose NV

Veuve Clicquot, Rose NV

Veuve Clicquot is unusual in making their rose by blending a little still Pinot Noir wine with their wonderful “white” Champagne. The wine makers believe that the blending in of finished Pinot Noir wine adds more earthy, Pinot flavor to the wine, and a little welcome tannin.

For the ultimate champagne & caviar experience, we invite you to now visit the premier caviar merchant, Caviar Russe. For perfect caviar accompaniments and gourmet items, available for next-day shipping within the continental US, visit Caviar Russe.

Brunello di Montalcino

Altesino, Brunello di Montalcino, 2003

This renowned and popular Brunello is made from 100% Sangiovese Grosso grapes hand harvested from the Altesino, Montosoli and Velona vineyards. Aged in large Slovenian barrels for three and a half years, Altesino Brunello is also refined in bottle for four months. The ruby red color of this wine tends toward garnet with age. The bouquet displays ample aromas of violet, wild berries, tobacco, chocolate and vanilla. On the palate, Altesino Brunello is rich, full-bodied and velvety.

Cabernet Sauvignon "One Point Five"

Shafer==, Cabernet Sauvignon "One Point Five", 2006

“The Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five Stags Leap. The dark ruby/purple-tinged 2006 offers delicious red currant and black cherry fruit interwoven with notions of loamy soil and spring flowers. It is an elegant, stylish effort to enjoy over the next 10-15 years.”-Wine Advocate

(St.-Estephe)

Calon Segur, (St.-Estephe), 2003

“Bottled in July, 2005, the saturated ruby/purple-colored 2003 exhibits a tightly-knit, but promising nose of mulberries, blackberries, cherries, and hints of new oak and truffles. This 60% Cabernet Sauvignon / 40% Merlot blend possesses a gorgeous texture as well as an expansive, exotic softness, and 13% alcohol (according to the proprietor, Madame Denise Gasqueton). Generous and rich, this high class, full-bodied wine will undoubtedly be more approachable than its closest spiritual sibling, the 1982.”

(St.-Estephe) Imperial

Calon Segur, (St.-Estephe) Imperial, 2004

“This classically-styled claret did not merit an outstanding rating because it lacks sufficient concentration to compete with the estate’s top vintages. However, it offers a dark ruby/plum color, nicely evolved notes of roasted herbs, sweet cherries and currants, and loamy earth, medium-weight, light to moderate tannin, and an elegant style. If it puts on weight over the next few years, it may deserve a slightly higher score. Anticipated maturity: now-2018.” —Robert Parker

Charmes-Chambertin

Domaine des Varoilles, Charmes-Chambertin, 2005

These young wines are so beautiful, so sexy and so Burgundian. If the barrels at the Hospices are an accurate indication of what the 2005 vintage will deliver in general, we are in for some wonderful wines. The reds show ripe fruit, ripe tannins and wonderful harmony.

'Grand Rose' Brut

Gosset, 'Grand Rose' Brut

“Salmon-orange. Musky aromas of red berries, minerals, clove, horseradish and earth. Penetrating and vinous, with understated red berry flavors complicated by earth and spice notes. Intensely flavored but light on its feet. Finishes with superb, lingering fruit and noteworthy verve. A terrific, wine-like rose."
