This wine has a deep reddish-black color and black cherry, espresso bean and dark chocolate aromatics. The black stone fruit and mineral flavors have a balanced acidity and a sweet tannin backbone. Enjoy now and for the next 10-14 years. Winemaker notes
There is some finesse here although the nose is cassis- and dark berry-laden. The tannin is soft with a nice little bite in the finish.

The 2005 V Madrone acheived a perfect balance of symmetry. Prior to bottling the wine was showing beautifully; expressive notes of blackberry, plum compote, black licorice, wheat toast, graphite and wet earth. The palate is congruent with the nose in the abundance of dark fruit, depth of character and firm, yet supple tannins. This is a powerful wine with a destiny for greatness and will age gracefully for 20 years or longer.

Dr. Stefano Chioccioli is the oenologist who is responsible for some of the most interesting wines to emerge from Tuscany and a diehard fan of Sangiovese. He is an expert in blending professional know-how with an artistic touch in order to produce an outstanding wine of exceptional quality. For the Gagliole he blends in 30% Cabernet Sauvignon giving some backbone and a little tannic grip to produce a fruit-filled wine of immediate appeal. Look for notes of bright red fruits and violets from the Sangiovese and cassis and blueberry from the Cab.
