Aged for an average of eight years, Black Maple Hill Small Batch Bourbon is bottled in small batches straight from Heaven Hill Distillery oak casks in Bardston, Kentucky. The technique and the fact that Heaven Hill is the largest, independent family-owned distillery in the state makes for an especially rare find of superior quality and taste. coolhunting.com

“The bottle and history alone are enough to get us interested in the bourbon but wait until you lift the cork stopper. The color is wonderful deep amber. On the nose this bourbon gives strong hints of toffee/caramel. Sampled neat it is true to traditional bourbon with solid caramel, toffee and, I think, a hint of vanilla. Cut with water it entices me. I taste very strong caramel flavors. The finish continues with wonderful caramel notes and a hotness that you might describe as peppery.” —Greg Kitzmiller, AlcoholReview

“Pale copper color. Sweet walnut fudge nose. A supple entry leads to a medium-bodied palate displaying dry caramel, brown spice notes, and a dash of warming alcohol on the long, smooth finish. A refreshing, easy-drinking bourbon style.”90 Points (Exceptional) from the annual

Produced by the Buffalo Trace Distillery, who also produce Blantons, the first commercially available single barrel Bourbon.
“Rich amber color. Sweet dried orange peel, spicy honey, coconut fruit, and a touch of shellac. A fresh, smooth entry leads to an off-dry, rich full-bodied palate with even toffee, macerated cherry, nut, and brown spice flavors. Finishes with a sweet spicy fade of dried fruits, vanilla and oak. Great balance and vitality.” Tastings, The Beverage Testing Institute

“Back in the 1700’s a Baptist minister by that name actually invented the process of aging whiskey in charred oak barrels. Today, this super premium small batch bourbon remains one of the finest on the market.” bourbonenthusiast.com Even more remarkable and smoother than the 12 year old (if that’s possible!) Honey clover on the nose. Quite deep and rich. A full 94 proof although the alcohol is hardly noticible.

“…A mannered, stately bouquet that betrays the employment of the pot still method through its more than ample complexity, style, maturity, and breeding. I found this 20 year old whiskey every bit as grand and idiosyncratic as the 5 Star 16 year old; these two rank with the world’s best whiskies; the most stylish tandem that America has to offer….” * 5 Stars Paul Pacult, The Spirit Journal.Distilled and barrel aged for 20 years in Illinois; bottled in 2007 in Kentucky.
