Pinot Nero (aka Pinot Noir) is finding a very favorable home in the northeastern area of Italy. There are several excellent producers of Pinot Noir in the Alto-Adige region that made the other Pinot cousin, Pinot Grigio so famous. A very fine value Pinot Noir.

The lastest and superb generation of winemakers make a wine with more latitude of expression but within the great history of Ruffino Tuscan wines.
Based on Sangiovese, but blended with grapes outside the parameters of Chianti (20% each Merlot and Syrah.) The result is IL DUCALE.
The Syrah adds pleasant spicy hints which intertwine with scents of undergrowth and Mediterranean herbs, characteristic of Sangiovese and with the softness and roundness of the Merlot.

Angelini, one of Chianti’s most prestigious producers, has come up with a new “everyday red” from his Tuscan estate. Refreshing hints of blackberry fruit mingle with floral aromas and good body. Makes a delicious everyday alternative to a fine Chianti Classico.

Richly extracted, this merlot-based Super Tuscan is beautifully textured. Wild blue berries spice and cedar greet you. Dark fruits, some chocolate and cinnamon fill the palate. In the long finish theere are hints of licorice and cherries.

The intense ruby red color of this wine is typical of the Monica grape. Persistent aromas of ripened cherry, cassis, black pepper carry through to the palate and are followed by sweet hints of chocolate and firm tannins. Very vibrant, rich and rustic. An excellent wine with spicy food, pasta with tomato or meat sauces, casseroles, and medium aged cheeses.
