Rose (Vin de Pays du Var)

Chateau Margui, Rose (Vin de Pays du Var), 2009

The wine is a beautiful light pink color, infused with aromas of fresh wild strawberry, cherry and peach. Some minerality with a hint of spice which is a perfect balance to the silky texture. This delicious blend of cinsault and grenache is perfect with food, or simply a glass by itself.

Wine bas been produced at Chateau Margui since Roman times. These days the owners, Marie-Christine and Philippe Guillanton, both feel that vineyards (and olive groves) are essential to bringing this beautiful estate back to life.

Bandol Rose

Lovely and supple, with pretty berry and cherry flavors, and spicy notes on the finish. The above, after all, describes a lot of Provence Roses. This beauty is beyond Rose. Chateau Pibarnon is one of the great estates in Mediterranean France producing a world-class red wine that may be the finest Mouvedre-based wine anywhere. A rarity in a pink sea of hundreds of often blah roses. Sante.

Costieres de Nimes Rose

Chateau Grande Cassagne (Darde et Fils), Costieres de Nimes Rose, 2009

The Darde brothers have become quite well known for their explosively fruited dry Rose. Produced from tiny berries off forty-plus year old vines, the grapes are fermented a short time on its skins, providing an electric pink color, soaring aromatics, and fully dry palate. The Grande Cassagne Rose exudes red fruits and a strawberry perfume.
