The wines of Vina Aquitania are a result of the combined efforts of Paul Pontallier, the winemaker of Chateau Margaux, Bruno Prats, the former owner of Chateau Cos d’Estournel, Ghislain de Montgolfier, the owner of Bollinger Champagne, and the great Chilean oenologist, Felipe de Solminihac. These “Four Musketeers” are producing wines of high quality and incredible expression.

“The 2002 Almaviva is a joint venture between Vina Concha y Toro and the Baron Philippe de Rothschild. This Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine has a saturated, opaque, black ruby color as well as nose of sweet dark fruits, spices, and vanilla-laced smoky new oak. On the palate, this medium to full-bodied effort is broad, lush, and velvety-textured. Blackberries, cassis liqueur, and black cherries make up this deep, seamless wine’s flavor profile.”

Winemaker’s notes

“This ruby red colour wine offers a very good tipicity on the nose where fresh red fruit notes such as raspberries and cherries stand out, in addition to subtle touches of sweet spices contributed from barrel aging like cinnamon and clove. On the palate, the wine is firm but yet smooth; tannins add structure throughout the mouth with a pleasant volume. The sweet spice flavours appear again, along with soft leather, tobacco and cedar aromas, creating a tasty and elegant finish.”

Deep inky red with purple hints; Intense red fruit aromas, cassis and red currant combined with light touches of tobacco and Provence herbs. Very good oak and fruit balance. Juicy and round tannins. Good acidity, well balanced with structure and a long finish.
