Pale green-yellow. Elegant floral lift to the inviting bouquet of vineyard peach, lime zest and wet pebbles. Racy and light on its feet, with lemon and bay leaf flavors; the moderately long finish displays a nearly salty minerality.

This is a seleiction from the Berg and Terassenweingarten vineyards between the villages of Durnstein and Wnterloiben. The soil is chalky with great minerality. Only the best grapes are used.

As with all good Gruners (and this is a very fine one from one of the top producers)look for a fresh, bright slightly vegetal-scented wine with notes of flowers and white pepper accenting the green berry fruits. Some lime and peach on the nose.

A traditional solid everyday classic Veltliner with some nice white pepper and spice with lively fruit flavors and hints of peach and some green lime. For a full liter, this is a great price.

Lovely mid-weight Gruner, on the herbal side with a ripe Viognier note, crisp citrus, melon, and white pepper. The palate and finish are balanced, crisp with a refreshing tang.

As every vintage, the ‘08 “Hochterrassen” Gruner represents great value and is truly reflective of its terroir on the “high terraces” (hence its name) overlooking Austria’s Blue Danube. A great entry point for those unfamiliar with Gruner Veltliner or just those looking for a fine white at a super price.
