This blend of mostly sauvignon blanc with some semillon is a focused wine with intense aromas of passion fruit, lemon rind and a hint of spicy oak. The wine is mainly fermented in stainless steel tanks with thirty percent fermented in new French and American oak barrels. It is defined by clean, refreshing flavors and a lengthy finish.

Emigre is sourced from the Colonial-owned vineyards and is made up of old-vine Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvedre, Muscadelle, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is the product of diligent viticulture and has a roundness and innate harmony, which belies its intensity, strength, and concentration.

This is a beautiful integration of three varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz. It’s a joy to experience and taste the earthy spicy Merlot characters, the leafy berry fruits and firm structure from the Cabernet, and the chocolate and plum Shiraz flavors on the finish. This harmony gives you a wine that is balanced, complex and has lots of fruit.

A wonderful blend of Shiraz and Mourvedre usually about 3/1. Really ripe and fairly complex for a wine at this price point. Notes of black olives and smoked meat in the nose, continuing with the olive tapenade, figs, blackberry and boysenberry flavors. Another beauty from the wine masters at Penfold.
