2007 Tasting Notes
This wine opens with a seductive perfume of passion fruit, honeysuckle, and citrus. Lush, decadent flavors of peaches and spiced pears are layered between ribbons of quince, lemon cream and vanilla. All this is beautifully integrated with the vibrancy of this year’s dramatic mineral notes.

Sémillon dominates our classic white blend sourced from old vines. The sand, silt-loam filled soils and cooler temperatures of the Yakima Valley nurture our sauvignon bringing bright acidity to the blend. Muscadelle is responsible for the florals in this verve-filled wine.

Conundrum is a white blend produced from sites in California’s Central Coast. The winery was started by Chuck Wagner of Caymus and is now its own seperate winery and brand. The blend is of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Muscat, Semillon and Viognier. It is round and lush but with bright, citrus notes.

Tablas Creek’s flagship white, the 2008 Esprit de Beaucastel Blanc, is a blend of 65% Roussanne, 30% Grenache Blanc, and 5% Picpoul. It offers up sumptuous aromas of orange marmalade, lemon blossom, and white currants along with spice, crushed rock, and subtle earthy notes. This full-bodied, rich, lively white should drink well for 4-5 years.

The vibrant aromas of this wine combine creme brulee with ginger, lemon curd, fennel and peach. The wine’s creamy entry blossoms to a full, sweet, peach and citrus mid-palate. The finish is long with vanilla, roasted oats and nectarine flavors. A fine effort, as usual.

Crisp, clean, fresh flavors true to the chardonnay profile. Pineapple and citrus peel are right there in the wine’s aromatics, with lemony pear fruit on the palate, and a brisk cleansing minerality on the finish. Closer to Premiere Cru Chablis in style than a Californian.
