Cler' Blanc

Sauvion, Cler' Blanc

This crisp, sprightly white is a crowd-pleaser; It’s dry but very fruity, quite light, with a slight tingle on the palate. Sauvion manages to capture this clean, lilting freshness year after year; I guess that’s why he’s known as ‘the wine wizard of the Loire.; -Barbara Ensrud

Anjou Blanc

Sauvion, Anjou Blanc, 2008

Quite pale/slight yellow color. Quite flattering to the palate with just a slight edge of nice tannin.
Try this little gem with a lunch or dinner of cold meats and cheeses or, even better, a nice roasted chicken.

Bourgueil "La Pierre Percee"

Sauvion, Bourgueil "La Pierre Percee", 2009

Bourgueil is located just across the river from Chinon and is known for producing Cabernet Franc with pleasing spicy, peppery, herbal flavors. These are preceeded by lovely aromas of raspberry, dark cherry and violet. Medium bodied, easy quaffing. With roast chicken—-divine.

Chinon "Bonnaventure"

Chateau de Coulaine, Chinon "Bonnaventure", 2008

This Chinon is 100% Cabernet Franc. Coulaine’s low yields result in a deeply concentrated, savory and succulent expression of Cabernet Franc with ripe and polished tannins – a harmonious balance between the traditional and modern worlds.

Chinon Cuvee Terroir

Domaine Charles Joguet, Chinon Cuvee Terroir, 2008

“Hands down, the best pure cabernet franc being made in the world today is coming from the hard working gang at Charles Joguet in Chinon.”
grapecrusader

“Dark and on the rustic side, with roasted chestnut and sweet earth notes leading the way for tangy currant, plum skin and licorice root. The brawny finish has a mouthwatering olive note.”

Chinon

Jean-Maurice Raffault **WC**, Chinon, 2007

Silky and fresh, with medium-weight cherry fruit spiked with herb and olive hints. The slightly firm finish lacks a little flesh, in line with the vintage profile.

Chinon "Les Roches Cachees"

Sauvion, Chinon "Les Roches Cachees", 2009

The favorite wine of Rabelais, the famous French writer born close to Chinon. It is excellent with good strong-flavored cheeses.
We like the peppery and violet aromas of Chinon and it complements poultry and white meat so well.
[75% Cabernet Franc; 25% Cabernet Sauvignon.]

Coteaux du Layon "Les Fontaines"

Sauvion, Coteaux du Layon "Les Fontaines", 2009

Chenin blanc at its Loire Valley best! After receiving fame before WWII, the wines of the Coteaux du Layon were almost forgotten. They are now making a happy comeback.
A favorite semi-sweet Loire wine: full of sensuality, richness, length and complexity. Those who have never tasted Coteaux du Layon are missing a “kiss” from the vineyard which exhibits honey, acacia and verbena on the nose. Chill, sip, smile.

Coteaux du Loir

Domaine de Cezin, Coteaux du Loir, 2006

A clean crisp green apple nose with fresh citrus and minerality, the wine covers the palate with lime, quince and a classic crisp dry luscious texture from the Chenin Blanc. The perfect all-weather white…

[The Coteaux du Loir (a tributary of the Loire) is a tiny appellation just north of Tours.]
