Half Bottles

Half bottles and 500ml bottles are becoming more popular with our customers, as they realize there are many good reasons to buy them. For example, sometimes a bottle is a little too much, so a half bottle works well. On the other hand, sometimes a bottle isn’t quite enough, so a half bottle more works well, especially if it’s a white wine or champagne to start the meal or perhaps a sweet wine to finish with.

It’s also nice to have two half-bottles instead of a bottle, so you can enjoy a white and a red or just two different bottles.

Check out our selection which includes whites, reds, sweet wines and port from many different countries in half bottles (375ml) and 500ml bottles.

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, "Ornellaia" 375ml, 2007

The 2007 Ornellaia is remarkably open and accessible, very much in keeping with the personality of the vintage. Clean, minerally notes frame a core of silky, perfumed dark fruit, mocha, spices, licorice, grilled herbs and leather that impresses for its exceptional length. The 2007 is not a big, massive Ornellaia, but rather a wine built on elegance and finesse, both of which are on full display. The 2007 should drink well with a minimum of cellaring.
The 2007 Ornellaia is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot.

Maculan, Acininobili 375ml, 2003

Acininobili (“noble berries”) is the result of painstaking manual selection of dried, concentrated Vespaiola, Tocai and Garganega grapes.
Brilliant gold in color with an intense bouquet of acacia honey, dried tropical fruit, candied orange rinds, and caramel. Sweet on the palate but not cloying, Acininobili is extremely elegant and complex, with excellent body, a dense texture, and a persistent finish of candied fruit, spice and caramel.

(Pomerol) 375ml

Bourgneuf, (Pomerol) 375ml, 2006

“Red-ruby. Inky black cherry, violet and spices on the sexy nose. Offers good sweetness and intensity of cherry, violet and mineral flavors. Seems sweeter and fresher than the 2004 was at the same stage. Finishes with good ripe tannins.”

(St.-Julien) 375ml

Branaire-Ducru, (St.-Julien) 375ml, 2006

“By no means comparable to their sensational 2005 or 2003, but still an outstanding wine, this singular St.-Julien always possesses notes of spring flowers, boysenberries, black currants, and graphite. The complex aromatics are followed by a medium-bodied, classic Bordeaux displaying a deep ruby/purple color as well as moderately high tannin. It needs 3-5 years of bottle age, and should last for two decades or more.” Robert Parker

Corton Charlemagne 375ml

Louis Latour, Corton Charlemagne 375ml, 2004

Wonderfully golden in colour, this wine has a magnificent nose of fresh almonds with a hint of aniseed or liquorice. On the palate, the wines balance, roundness and power is overwhelming with notes of almonds and grilled fennel once again coming to the fore. The length and balance of this wine, reveals why this is a Grand Cru!

Forster Pechstein Riesling Beerenauslese "Gold Kapsul"375ml

Dr. Burklin-Wolf, Forster Pechstein Riesling Beerenauslese "Gold Kapsul"375ml, 2002

Tasting note

A brilliant golden color gives way to mandarin, candied pineapple and mint aromas. Despite incredible concentration, the classic mineral tones from the Pechstein are still very present.

Food Recommendation

Try with Fourme d’Ambert or goose liver pate.
